Books

Hi girls;

Well, I finished the Mitford series books, nine books, and I've been reading them since Florida on our trip. It was sad to finish them up because I've truly enjoyed them and the characters in them. Pam, I hope you can enjoy them as much as I have!

Dawna and Pam, you told me about the Glass Castle, I just finished it. Like you said, it truly is an unbelievable story. I can't imagine living that life, and it wasn't that long ago either!! WOW is all I can say, I look forward to passing this book on.

Love, Laurie

Next gals weekend

Hi Girls;
I can do either weekend for the next gals trip, they both sound fun. I agree Patt, Cambria is always fun, but I loved coming to your place too!! Two great choices!!

By the way, I tried eyebrow threading instead of waxing, quick and painless!

Blogger Girl Im In!

Ok finally I have signed in...have not had time at home so had to do it at work...!

I am so bummed I missed out on the Westminste trip...but I did get to spend some quality time with Alex who is now in boot camp! We have heard from him almost everyday up to Tuesday night so I think now he is in true boot camp not reception which lasts about a week.

The house is quiet but we have not had time to really let it soak in!

I will send pictures soon....better get back to work!

Nancy

PS. LAURIE I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU AND BILL!! I WAS SO WORRIED YOU WERE GOING TO MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE BILL COULDNT FIND A JOB!!

Posts and Comments

As you know, I am new to this blogging thing.  I just realized today that the comments do not show on the blogsite.  Do you know if there is any way to change this?  I would prefer to have them on the site without having to click through.  Does that make sense?

And I also realized that my name is "sassy women" when I post!

I hope that you are all having a nice week!  Dawna

Fall pictures

holiday idea

Pam, I just saw your post!  Yea!

Here is a family photo from our weekend in southern Indiana.  Courtney and Drew surprised everyone and came home for the weekend.  Ella loved her first hiking experience - she fell asleep after just a couple of minutes!  It was a fun weekend!

Do any of you take the magazine Real Simple?  It is my current favorite magazine!  They had an advertisement from Microsoft Office with some fun holiday templates.  My favorite is one that you can create custom gift tags - you add photos of the person receiving the gift rather than writing their name.  Go to:  realsimple.com/microsoft.   Anyone can use them and there is no cost - love that!!  enjoy!

Halloween fun!

For halloween we had a Seven Brides for Seven Brothers party!  We opened those wedding dress boxes for the first time in 25 plus years.  We new that the guys would not wear pastel polyester tuxedos so we let them dress up as lumberjacks.  The bar that we went to was very boring so we went bowling.  My kids still make fun of my wedding dress - they say that I must be the only bride that ever wore a turtleneck!  What was I thinking???

Laurie, I thought of you when making these cookies.  They need very few items and are yummy:

Cool Whip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package lemon cake mix
  • 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar for decoration

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.
  2. Beat together the whipped topping and eggs together. Add the lemon cake mix and continue to mix. Dough will be thick.
  3. Drop by teaspoonfuls into a bowl of confectioners' sugar and roll to coat. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 8 minutes.

toe rings!!

Girls, is everyone still wearing your toe ring?

Nancy, yours is wrapped around that piece of paper in the middle!  Mine is still on and doesn't bother me at all!  However, no one sees it as we are way past sandal weather in Indiana!

Our blog is created!!

Hello girls!  It is created - our blog!

I hope that you like the title!  I am not good at this type of thing but I love the idea and we can improve the site as we go.

Nancy, we missed you during our weekend in LA. I hope that you are doing well and I am looking forward to catching up with you.

Isn't this picture beautiful?  It was such a wonderful day shopping and sitting on that bench for hours chatting with you girls!
